NorthShooter AR

A tool to train your spatial awareness. Train your senses using your phone's compass and shoot spears in directions.

Reason

I wanted to learn more skills and develop a basic game in AR. I picked up this project to learn more about AR concepts.
During this project, I also learned how to work with the Niantic SDK.

Features

Get the highest streak possible

  1. Build for Android phones

  2. Use your magnetic sensor to calculate your pose.

  3. Prompts a direction to shoot at and calculates your offset using the geomagnetic sensor.

  4. If you miss by 10 degrees + or - you lose your streak.

  5. This application should be used when entering a new location for instance on holiday or work. This will give you anchor points to where north and south are in a playful manner.

Design Challenges

  1. Easy to use, easy to make

  2. The directions should be representative and not false.

Solutions

  1. Using TMPro and Unity UI interactions to keep things simple.

  2. Using a Loak Niantic template for meshing the environment.

Extra: Glass Panels

Using Universal Render Pipeline
